Year 6

Perseverance and Trust

In Year 6, we aim to provide a safe, secure and successful environment with high expectations so that all children can reach their full potential. In our Year Group, a very important focus is helping our children to prepare for secondary school by taking greater responsibility and independence in their learning. We offer opportunities to be active citizens, such as becoming a House Captain, Prefect or Play Leader. We focus on our school values; respect, caring, honesty, unity, perseverance and appreciation. In Year 6 we demonstrate ‘Excellence’. We have chosen ‘excellence’ as our motto and we focus on doing our best in everything that we do.

Our curriculum ensures that we are preparing children thoroughly to meet the national expected standard at the end of Key Stage 2 and achieve their very best in their National Curriculum Assessments.

Our topics this year include Explorers, The British Empire (focusing on the Victorians), Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, Mexico (Physical) Mexico (Human) and The Golden Age of Baghdad – Early Islamic Civilisation.
