Staff Wellbeing

The World Health Organisation defines good mental health as:

A state of wellbeing in which the individual realises his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make a contribution to his or her own community.

At Blakesley Hall Primary School we have worked hard to ensure that mental health and wellbeing is integral to our school’s ethos and culture. Staff wellbeing is important. Staff juggle many different tasks in their work so it is really important that they are given the right emotional and practical support.

We believe that wellbeing at work is maximised when staff feel valued, well managed and work well as part of a team. Good staff wellbeing has benefits for all in the workplace. Some benefits of having good staff wellbeing include:

  • Increased productivity of staff and teachers
  • Reduced stress-related sick leave absences
  • Improved job satisfaction
  • A more resilient work force
  • Improved outcomes for all pupils

Mental Health First Aiders

We have Mental Health First Aiders in school who work closely with staff to support and improve staff wellbeing in our school.

A Mental Health First Aider is the go-to person for anyone who has a mental health concern. The first aider will be able to help guide the person in distress to the help that they need.

Education Support

Education Support

We recognise that our staff sometimes need support, not only in their workplace, but also in their personal lives. Education support is available to all school staff. This Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) gives our staff confidential support and guidance when they need it most.
