Year 3

Kindness and Patience

Welcome to Year 3. This is the start of Key Stage 2 which often seems a big step up for your children but please rest assured that we will support your children in making the transition as smooth as possible.

We started the year by focusing on who we are as a year group, looking at our class charter to make sure children feel safe and secure. We enjoyed exploring the diversity within the classroom emphasising the importance of respecting and valuing each person.

PE lessons will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays unless they are going swimming on a Monday. Children will need to come to school in their uniform and change for PE on the day. Please ensure children have the correct uniform and PE stated on the school website.

Homework, including weekly spellings will be sent out via Class Dojo or a paper copy. There will be a spelling test every Monday apart from in our curriculum weeks. All children are expected to read at home and are provided with a reading book. Children’s own reading is accelerated by a parent/carer reading to them every day. You can support your child in maths by helping them learn their times tables and encouraging correct use of language for shapes, time, money and measures.

Children are invited to carry out their own research, or respond creatively with writing of stories, poems, producing drawings, paintings, models or indeed anything about their learning which has captured their interest. We really enjoy it when children share the learning they have undertaken outside of school. Remember, you can continue to share your child’s learning by posting photos on Class Dojo.

If you have any concerns or pastoral issues you would like to share, please phone the school office, who will then be able to pass on your message to a member of the Year 3 team. Alternatively, you can send a message using Class Dojo.

We all have our own Class Charters. Being kind and respectful is important.
