Event: Big Fish, Little Fish
October 2008
Big Fish, Little Fish is when a Year 6 child (big fish) is paired with a reception child (little fish) and the Year 6 child helps the reception child build their confidence, settle in to the school and feel welcome.
The Year 6 child goes down to reception every day and eats dinner with the reception child and plays with them in the playground. Furthermore, once a week the Year 6 child reads with their little fish and plays number games with them, teaching them the ability to count and write numbers correctly. As a result it helps them too discover their independence.
All of Year 6 pupils have said they have enjoyed working with their little fish.
